Augrabies flat lizards

A movement near your feet on the Augrabies Falls boardwalk. Suddenly a small, feisty and impossibly colourful lizard pops into focus. This is Broadley’s flat lizard, which lives in little groups where rivalries and territory are all linked to their techni-colour markings. At night they forget their feuds and cuddle up together. more

Waterfall Bluff, Eastern Cape

One of the high points of the legendary Wild Coast Hiking Trail is a stop-over at Waterfall Bluff near the Mkambathi Nature Reserve. Next to it stands the pyramid-shaped Cathedral Rock. Hikers on this trail sometimes witness the incredible Sardine Run, dubbed by a filmmaker as ‘the greatest shoal on Earth’. more
