The Mowana Spa, Fourways, Johannesburg
Did you know?
Mowana also offers a mobile spa experience for groups which means that the Mowana on the Move Relaxation Zone comes to you.
The Mowana Spa in Fourways, Johannesburg, is a welcome new addition to the wellness scene offering a country-style escape, just half an hour from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Mowana Spa has a strong ‘back to nature’ theme and the iconic baobab tree is at the heart of the ‘Tree of Life’ philosophy at the spa.
Guests can enjoy a number of packages such as the African Rejuvenation Full Day Spa, which includes breakfast, lunch and six treatments, the African Skies Night Spa, with dinner and six treatments, and the Makoya Morning Retreat which includes breakfast and three treatments. The African Savannah Ritual is also a good option, as is the African Escape Spa & Stay package which offers accommodation with your spa experience.
Treatments on offer include a full body massage with baobab oil incorporating the use of rungu (a kind of East African club), calabash or hot stones to soothe and de-stress the body. The full body exfoliation consists of a revitalising sugar polish followed by an African mud wrap and the use of baobab moisture paper. The facial massage is a favourite as therapists apply the MatsiMela Aloe Vera facial range to revive the skin. Additional body massages are a real treat and there are various options including a head, neck and shoulder massage, a hand and lower-arm massage, or a foot and lower-leg pamper massage. For those who need some serious 'me time', the Time-Out treatment is just what the doctor ordered.
Mowana is also dedicated to staff empowerment. The spa management invests in the training and upliftment of staff in order to ensure maximum benefit for all those who visit.
