The Cullinan Diamond was found on January 26, 1905 by Frederick Wells, who worked for The Premier Diamond Company.
The Zau Spa is situated in the historical diamond town of Cullinan, about an hour from Johannesburg (and half that from Pretoria). 'Zau' is an Arabic word meaning peace, which is what you will experience after your day of soothing massages, sensuous scents, candlelit rooms and delicious cuisine.
Zau Spa's treatments consist of the usual suspects – a variety of massages, facials, pedicures and manicures – with a few added treats thrown in for good measure.
Nestled under a beautiful big jacaranda tree overlooking the Cullinan Dam, the unusual architecture and striking artwork of the old mining house and surrounding gardens make a distinctive setting for the Zau Spa experience. The Spa caters for a limited amount of clients, ensuring an intimate, personalised experience.
Zau offers a unique approach to holistic mind and body care for men and women, as well as sumptuous deli breakfasts and lunches and complimentary refreshments throughout the day. Meals are made with the freshest organic produce and one can dine outside under the trees on warm sunny days.
Half-day and full-day packages are available, offering a combination of treatments inlcuding hand an arm treatments, a range of facial treatments and muscle-melting massages including Hot Stone massage and Thai massage. There are also packages available for mums-to-be.
Clients can opt for a full day treatment and an overnight stay at the charming Jan Harmse Gastehuys or head into town and enjoy live performances that take place at the Jan Harmsgat barnyard-type theatre.
