This marine theme park in Durban is a must for families wanting to learn about the sea and its animals and have fun at the same time.

uShaka Marine World offers a lot of beach, water and action activities. There are numerous fascinating things to see – from an old shipwreck to indoor and outdoor displays and exhibits. uShaka Marine World is open-plan so that you can enjoy the wonderful subtropical weather, feel the sun kiss your skin and observe the blue sky and beautiful beach front.

When you enter uShaka Marine World, you will find the Village Walk next to the main entrance. This retail village is a real treasure where you can buy cute souvenirs like T-shirts and animal posters. It's also the best place to chill out and relax in the many restaurants, bars and kiosks.

Right in the centre of this Durban Marine World is the most popular attraction – Sea World. Here you can get up close and personal with marine animals in the dolphin stadium that seats 1 200 people, the penguin rookery, the saltwater aquarium and the seal arena. If getting a bird’s eye view of the fish and sharks is not enough then as an optional extra at uShaka Sea World, you can snorkel through the grottos, coral reefs and shark-filled dive tanks.

The uShaka Marine World is not just about saltwater. There is also a freshwater entertainment facility called Wet ‘n Wild for all the adrenaline junkies. The water rides with names like the Kamikaze Speed Slide and Stuka Freefall, and a five-lane race provide non-stop fun.

How to get here

uShaka Marine World can be easily reached by car, taxi or bus. Take the Western Freeway (N3) towards Durban CBD. Drive into Pine Street and turn into Point Road. Follow the road till you reach Bell Street. Look out for the sign at 1 Bell Street.

uShaka Marine World costs approx. R104 for adults, R90 for senior citizens (60+) and R70 for children.
