Some of the houses in McGregor date back to the early 1800s.
The Temenos Retreat Centre is named after an ancient Greek temple of healing, and the retreat lives up to its name in so many ways. The beautiful gardens are a major highlight of the property – the Zen garden is for quiet contemplation, there is a Garden of Remembrance, a garden dedicated to Mother Theresa and an extensive rose garden.
This McGregor retreat centre has a dedicated wellness programme. There are Wellness Weeks which include a range of alternative therapies, meditation sessions and walks in the gorgeous surroundings.
There are also daily treatments available at Temenos including Jin Shin Jyutsu (a therapy that works on energy lines in the body), Reiki, deep tissue Kathara Massage (for the back, neck and shoulders), reflexology, aromatherapy, South African flower essence readings, and animal and bird card readings. There are also yoga sessions for both residents and non-residents as well as Emotional Transformation therapies to help clients release pent up emotions. The Findhorn Foundation's Game of Transformation is also on offer for those who need to shift old patterns and beliefs.
If you're staying over at this retreat in McGregor you can choose to stay in either the Cape Garden cottages or the Library Suites. All accommodation is self-catering (fresh local produce can be purchased in town) and there is a fireplace for those chilly evenings. Temenos also has it's own restaurant called Tebaldi's (even Zen masters need to eat) and breakfast, lunch and dinner are available.
Temenos has become a popular wedding venue and is also suitable for family occasions such as christenings, birthdays and anniversaries. This delightful retreat centre has a little bit of everything for the spirit-seeker who is not scared to live life to the full.
