For the glide of your life

Sun City Segway tours

There are 3 Segway gliding tours through the scenic surrounds of Sun City. See the Gary Player Country Club golf course, experience local wildlife or enjoy the magnificent Pilanesberg mountains from a unique vantage point. Had a secret desire to ride 1 of these futuristic machines? Well now's your chance!

Did you know?

Segway tours are also available at the Johannesburg Lion Park, Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium, Grabouw in the Western Cape and at the Spier Estate in Stellenbosch.

An uber-cool Segway tour is definitely the most fun-filled way to explore the length and breadth of South Africa’s premier playground, Sun City.

The Segway Personal Transporter is a 2-wheeled, self-balancing transport device manufactured in the United States. The beauty of riding 1 of these sci-fi modes of transport is that it takes only a few minutes for a coach to teach you all the manoeuvres you need to enjoy the glide of your life.

There’s a choice of tours for up to 10 individuals, all of which have been designed to take visual advantage of the surrounding Pilanesberg mountains and the wildlife. Select from a golf tour, a lake tour and an off-road glide. Time-wise, the tours range from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Children under the age of 10 are not permitted on the on-road glides, and those under 13 are not permitted on the off-road route.

If you’re a golfer, the 45-minute golf course glide around the world-renowned Gary Player Country Club should not be missed. The tour provides a great overview of the Nedbank Golf Challenge course, weaving around pristine gardens, stunning lakes and lush fairways, where you’re likely to see vervet monkeys at play.

An extension to the golf course glide is the lake glide, the longest on-road tour, which takes riders to animal world, the birds of prey centre and the scenic Sun City lake.

If more challenging terrain sounds tempting, try a specially adapted off-road Segway tour along the Pilanesberg National Park fence line, where you might be fortunate enough to spot 1 of the Big 5. This route offers a tour of 2 of the country’s top golf courses, indigenous wildlife viewing and a visit to the crocodile pit!
