During the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the South African Broadcasting Corporation's broadcast centre was set up at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The multi-award winning Sandton Convention Centre (SCC) is a great example of the type of world-class conferencing infrastructure that has been available in South Africa for more than a decade.

Located in Sandton, Johannesburg's premier business destination, the SCC has consistently plays host to high level conferences, meetings and exhibitions.

It has for several years been the venue of choice for South Africa's leading business tourism event, Meetings Africa, and 2012 was no exception. In 2010 it played host to several prestigious 2010 FIFA World Cup™ events.

The SCC offers easy access to more than 5 000 hotel rooms, is adjacent to the country’s top shopping and entertainment complexes, and provides 10 600 secure parking bays.

Fourteen of the 30 hotels located nearby are within easy walking distance. These range from luxurious international hotels to a host of budget hotel options.

City and adventure tours, golf, theatre, sports, health clubs, dining, pubs and safaris are all easily accessible from the SCC.

The SCC building occupies 12 storeys with more than 22 000 m² of convention, exhibition and special event space. It offers a range of room capacities - from a 10-seat function room to The Pavilion, which can cater for 4 500 seated patrons.

Its grand ballroom can cater for 1 500 banquet guests while 13 other meeting venues of varying sizes can accommodate up to 350 delegates. Meals can be served for 2 000 guests in as little as 12 minutes.

Two exhibition levels with a combined floor space of 11 000 m² can accommodate 500 3x3m stands.

The SCC offers technology, equipment, and technical and logistical support through Gearhouse, the leading audio visual and communications technology provider in South Africa.
