Did you know?

The 20-floor Sandton City Office Towers and 10-floor interlinked Twin Towers East and West comprise 45 000m2 of commercial space integral to the complex.

The conveniently located Sandton City shopping mall in the heart of Johannesburg’s business district offers tourists and anyone else looking for some typical African curios or souvenirs a quality selection of specialised stores.

Among the best-known Sandton City curio shops are African Origins, Indaba Lifestyle and Oasis Out of Africa.

African Origins is a local curio shop filled with colourful African artefacts. The store offers a variety of traditional masks, ethnic beadwork, precious stones taken from the African soil and silver set into delicately crafted African jewellery. African Origins also offers bargains for people looking for typical African homeware or clothing.

Indaba Lifestyle is a famous chain of African arts and craft stores and has deservedly made its name among Sandton City’s curio shops. The store sells a huge variety of South African curios like beadwork, ethnic jewellery and elephant hair mixed with gold or silver. Besides the arts and crafts, Indaba Lifestyle also sells khaki clothing, kaftans, T-shirts, and ethnic crockery, bags, lamps, vases and place mats, to serving spoons, animal game skins, houseware, ceramics and decorative bowls. As with many high-quality curio shops, their range is inspired by local themes and created for international appeal.

Other Sandton City curio stores such as Oasis Out of Africa, The Kraal Gallery and The Tiger’s Eye are also good places to shop for curios. When buying larger or more delicate pieces, most stores will also be happy to pack and ship your purchases home. Look on one of the maps of the shopping centre or ask a friendly employee to guide you to one of these famous curio shops in Sandton City - you're sure to find what you are looking for, along with items you would never have dreamed of.
