Riverview Spa, the Cradle of Humankind, Gauteng
Did you know?
Visitors to the Cradle of Humankind can visit Cooper’s Cave, a fossil-rich site, on organised walks.
Riverview Spa is a peaceful oasis surrounded by a pristine landscape and a wealth of bird life.
Situated just an hour or so from Pretoria and Johannesburg, this spa is easily accessible for day visitors searching for a bit of 'me time'. The wellness facility makes full use of its natural surroundings in the Kromdraai Conservancy and is surrounded by the Zwartkop Mountains while bordering the Crocodile River.
Riverview Spa Bed & Breakfast, as the name suggests, also offers accommodation in chalets as well as pampering treatments at the spa. Choose from half-day, full-day or overnight packages. There are a variety of options available, including the Short and Sweet half-day package, which includes a number of treatments (massage, facial, pedicure or manicure), and the half-day Detox Package, which includes a mogongo nut detox full body exfoliation, a mogongo nut detox gel wrap, and a full-body massage.
Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to full-day packages. The Perfect Pleasures package offers facial, full-body, Indian head and neck massages, as well as a milk solution pedicure.
The Joys of Life is Riverview Spa's signature package which includes a facial, a body polish, a de-stress aroma full body massage (using hot stones) and a pampering hand treatment (as well as breakfast thrown in for good measure).
The spa, in the Cradle of Humankind, also has an option for couples: the Romantic Day Ritual includes full body massages, Indian neck massages, a facial for him and her, and a couples' mud treatment, as well as a massage lesson on how to de-stress your partner. This package includes a picnic along the river.
Riverview Spa also caters for pregnant ladies and has a special package deal for men in need of a bit of TLC.
