The North West province is so rich in minerals that it is sometimes known as the ‘platinum province’. Eighty percent of the world’s platinum is found here. The combination of good weather and great soil makes it an agricultural epicentre - the perfect place to grow crops. Besides mining and agriculture, tourism is another major drawcard. There are numerous North West province attractions that would be of great interest incentive travellers.
The province is home to Sun City, Africa’s most famous conference, casino and entertainment complex. Here you'll find the world-renowned and majestic The Palace of the Lost City - a 5-star hotel steeped in the legend of an age-old mythical civilization and set in a tropical jungle. Sun City Resort is also the venue for the annual Nedbank Golf Challenge that attracts the world's top golfers.
Just a hop and skip from Sun City, you’ll find the magnificent Big 5 Pilanesberg Game Reserve and not too far away is the Madikwe Game Reserve with its luxury lodges and Big 5 game. Both are top-notch North West incentive destinations.
The province is also home to the Magaliesberg mountain range, about an hour's drive from Johannesburg. The Magaliesberg is a great place for hiking, mountain bike trails and bird-watching. The nearby Hartbeespoort Dam is known for its fun water sports and chilled holiday vibes.
For something a little different, follow in the footsteps of one of South Africa’s literary giants, Herman Charles Bosman, as you follow his trail to Groot Marico. Alternatively, history buffs will enjoy the sights, sounds and stories that are to be found in Mafikeng.
The North West province is ideally situated to cater for any type of meeting or team building event that forms part of an incentive trip. Enjoy a bushveld location for your office pow-wow followed by a hot air balloon ride over the Pilanesberg, or work out your fiscal future in a meeting room at Sun City followed by a night of fun and entertainment at South Africa’s version of Las Vegas.

To get to North West province one would fly into OR Tambo International Airport or Lanseria International Airport and then drive to the North West province.
A visit to one of the North West province's cultural villages is a fascinating experience where you can interact with many of South Africa's different tribal cultures. Probably the most famous cultural village is Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural Village where you can spend the night in a traditional African hut. Other great options to learn about traditional African cultural heritage is to visit the Lost City of Mogale, the Buya Zulu Cultural Kraal, the Mapoch Ndebele Village and the Gaabo Motho Cultural Village.
Touring the North West province with a local tour operator or hiring a car are both good options. There are also rail and bus services available throughout the province.
One can easily spend 10 days exploring the North West province.
Pack light summer clothing from September to March, summer and autumn clothing from April to June, and warm winter woollies from July to August. Some autumn and winter days can be warm so you may want to pack a few T-shirts for winter. Similarly, during the spring and summer months, evenings can get cooler, so pack a few long-sleeved shirts and a windbreaker.
