When you’ve had your fill of fun in the sun on Durban’s beaches, Gateway Shopping Mall, a self-proclaimed ‘Theatre of Shopping’, offers fun of many different kinds. Visitors to this Durban shopping mall will enjoy exploring its 120 000 sqm of dedicated retail space.
Shops include edgy street brands, high-quality fashion, outdoors and lifestyle shops, cafes, restaurants and art galleries, as well as the usual array of major retail outlets, chain stores and speciality boutiques.
Gateway Mall is more than your average shopping centre; it is one of the few shopping destinations where you can combine your retail therapy with a visit to the popular Barnyard theatre, some ten-pin bowling, air hockey or video gaming, a visit to the ScienCentre or an hour or two at KwaZulu-Natal’s only Imax theatre.
If that’s not enough, there is also the Wavehouse, where you can catch the perfect wave and climb one of the country’s tallest indoor climbing walls, standing 24m high and known simply as 'the Rock'. One of the latest additions to Gateway's many attractions is the 4 000sqm Skate Park designed Tony Hawk as well as the Wave House Tube Ride, comprising 4 new water slides, promising even wilder and wetter fun for all.
The mall welcomes more than 1.3 million visitors per month and an average of 4.86 million holidaymakers per year. And most visitor’s agree, you will run out of time at Gateway far earlier than you will run out of fun.

How to get here
From the Durban airport, take the N2 North, then take the Umhlanga, Phoenix and Mt Edgecombe off-ramp.Turn right at the traffic light and follow the appropriate signage to Gateway.
