De Oude Kraal Country Estate and Spa is situated on a Merino sheep farm that was established in 1885. The pastoral surroundings provide a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for a day of spa treatments. This Bloemfontein spa uses only the best products from a range including Thalgo, Ahava and Mama Mio.

Did you know?

De Oude Kraal's wine cellar stores over 100 wines from various South African wine estates.

Relaxing in the wide open spaces of the Free State is made even easier at De Oude Kraal Country Estate and Spa. This unique Bloemfontein spa, situated on an old family-owned Merino sheep farm, offers a range of treatments in a luxurious country setting.

De Oude Kraal's guests can book individual skin-care treatments and massages. The spa's organic Thalgo facial is a favourite, along with the signature 'Woollen Embrace' massage, which uses wool and lanolin oil to smooth away tension and nourish the skin.

You can also book a spa package and settle in for a day of pampering. There are options for couples, expectant moms and brides, as well as a jacuzzi for hydro therapy, a sauna and a steam room to relieve stiff muscles and melt away stress.

Beauty and relaxation are serious business at this spa in the Free State, but De Oude Kraal also has a softer side, combining its understated luxury with a touch of whimsy.

In homage to its surroundings, sheep are the spa's unifying theme. The décor combines soft textures and soothing colours with suble humour. Dressing rooms have names like 'Tender Wool' and 'Fine Wool', the keys to the clothes lockers are decorated with beaded sheep trinkets and photographs of sheep adorn the interior.

The treatment rooms and spa treatments' names are also sheep themed – you can opt for Counting Sheep (a hot stone massage with aromatherapy) or try the Wool Press for Wellness, which promises to drain excess fluid, toxins and waste from the body which helps to fight insomnia and stress.

In addition to the spa treatments, you can relax in a deck chair by the pool, explore the farm by horseback or on foot, enjoy a sundown tractor ride and a range of other outdoor activities

De Oude Kraal Country Estate and Spa also has a heart that is as warm as its welcome and works with the local community to improve primary health care, accommodation, infrastructure and access to education in the area.
