Overlooking the Constantia Valley and with views stretching as far as Muizenberg, Chart Farm offers visitors tranquility in the heart of suburbia. There aren't many public places today where you can pick your own roses, which is what has made Chart Farm so popular.

Did you know?

Chart Farm has been owned by the same family since 1934.

Having lunch at the Chart Farm, surrounded by the fragrance of thousands of roses is an ideal way to enjoy an afternoon away from the hustle and bustle. Just off the M5 in Cape Town's scenic southern suburbs, Chart Farm, owned by the Garlick family, grows wine and table grapes, chestnuts and lemons.

However, their lovingly tended rose garden is the main attraction.Thousands of roses, of many different varieties and colours, festoon the farm, giving off a heady fragrance that which fills the air.

The roses are not only for show; they are grown to be picked and sold. The farm provides secateurs and picking trays if you want to choose your own flowers, but they also sell ready-cut stems if you don't fancy doing any gardening yourself. You pay per stem.

Take a walk through the abundant rose garden before deciding which stems you are going to pick. Chart Farm is 18 hectares in size, 12 hectares of which are arable.

The Terrace Coffee Shop serves breakfast, lunches and teas from 9am until 4.30pm, with the last order being taken at 4pm. The breathtaking view of the beautiful Constantia Valley will have you lingering for a long time.

Wynberg in general is a peaceful, leafy suburb, with excellent ambience, making it a perfect place to unwind.

The adjacent farm stall stocks a range of in-season produce and preserves, and cherries from the Klondyke Cherry Farm in Ceres.
