Did you know?
The Sun City hotel and entertainment complex is situated on the site of an extinct volcano.
Just half an hour away from Johannesburg and Pretoria, you’ll find the Magaliesberg mountains – distinguished by several kilometres of spectacular quartzite cliffs. Water runoff from the mountains has created deep gullies and wonderful kloofs (ravines), with waterfalls of crystal clear water spilling from the heart of the mountain. It is a paradise for climbers and hikers. There are also a number of fun attractions in the area, including hot air ballooning, canopy tours, abseiling and water sports. A number of arts and crafts routes are also part of the experience and there are wonderful country hotels and spas
in the vicinity.
With the Magaliesberg offering a scenic backdrop, Hartbeespoort Dam is a great place for leisure seekers in need of some rest, recreation and water-based fun. Known for its offering of water sports, Harbeespoort Dam is a great weekend getaway. Also worth
a visit is the Hartebeespoort Snake and Animal Park which features the finest selection of reptiles in southern Africa, as well as numerous endangered species. There’s also an Elephant Sanctuary in the area and an ox-wagon camp, if you’re looking for a little offbeat overnight stay.
