The antelope that knocked over South African mountain biker, Evan van der Spuy, in the famous 2011 YouTube video, was a red hartebeest.
The Ama Zwing Zwing Zip Line Tour is one of many excellent adventure activities offered in the Hartbeespoort Dam area. Whether you are staying in Johannesburg or Pretoria, you can drive to the Amazingwe Lodge in Broederstroom, where the zip line tour is based.
This is an excellent way to combine adventure and game viewing, with wildlife such as zebra and hartebeeste among those you will see during your aerial journey through this bushy part of the Cradle of Humankind. The natural scenery includes the Magaliesberg Mountains as well as the Crocodile River.
The Ama Zwing Zwing Zip Line Tour consists of seven slides, between 2m and 14m above ground, covering a total of 1.3km. The longest of these is 240m, which is further than most people can hit a golf ball. You will get an excellent view across the horizon from the main tower at the start of the journey and not look back thereafter.
This adventure is suitable for people between the ages of seven and 75, with no previous experience required. Participants only need to be of basic fitness levels and professional guides will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience from start to finish.
Depending on the size of the group taking part, a zip line tour at this venue will take between one and two hours. Up to eight people can be accommodated per tour.
The Ama Zwing Zwing Zip Line Tour includes a short game drive, as participants are transported from the finishing point back to reception. After your adventure you can make use of your meal voucher and reflect on your aerial antics.
Slideshows of the Ama Zwing Zwing Zip Line Tour are available on their website.
