Highlighting hospitality: SAB World of Beer to host 5th annual Concierge Conference

The conference and exhibition will act as a joint hospitality forum, a place where those passionate about service and hospitality can engage in networking opportunities, share their expertise and knowledge, learn about hospitably trends both locally and internationally, and tell stories about what makes for an excellent customer experience while in South Africa.
Deon Prinsloo, head concierge at The Palazzo Montecasino hotel and one of just nine South African holders of the elite Les Clef d'Or membership, is the man behind the conference, the service visionary who is looking to share a lasting legacy.
'My long-term aim is to contribute in some small way to the upliftment of the service industry and to help those who cannot afford formal concierge training grow in their hospitality careers,' he says.
'This conference, which is limited to 100 attendees, is my way of saying thank you for the unbelievable experiences I have had in my life – I have witnessed the most extraordinary things and travelled to the most amazing places – and I want to share that. I want to leave a legacy behind that extends beyond my years and I want people to remember how I made them feel, extraordinary and special.
'Until we take charge of ourselves, we won't know that it is up to us to make a difference in people's lives.'
The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Welcome’. Former Miss South Africa Thuli Sithole, a world traveller of note and owner of niche concierge company Uthukon Concierge, will deliver the keynote address and speak on what 'welcome' means for guests of the world.
Guests can also expect product introductions and presentations, and talks about what facilities are on offer.
'There are few people in the industry who know the entire scope of what is available to the traveller, and what each type of traveller prefers. If we keep our guests entertained and happy, they will return or extend their stay – and this is the goal.
