ETEYA entry deadline looms
The training and marketing opportunities afforded to ETEYA entrants who make it into the semi-finals and finals are unparalleled.
Don’t miss the opportunity to enter the 2012/13 Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award (ETEYA).
The ETEYA SMME development programme has been refined, and the 2012/13 edition offers more benefits to more candidates, including a business diagnostic process and mentorship with fantastic training opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs.
All 27 semi-finalists – 3 from each province – will have their businesses evaluated by a Tourism Enterprise Partnership-appointed business analyst. The analyst will undertake a comprehensive investigation of each business to identify the gaps and challenges, and then recommend improvements for business growth and sustainability.
The Tourism Enterprise Partnership will match the candidates with business mentors, who will then assist them in dealing with the identified challenges and help them develop their business growth plans.
Mabeka Makola, South African Tourism brand experience manager, encouraged emerging entrepreneurs to enter the competition at www.eteya.co.za before the closing date, 16 November 2012.
‘The training and marketing opportunities afforded to ETEYA entrants who make it into the semi-finals and finals are unparalleled. It’s a chance to sharpen their business acumen and market their businesses to a global audience,’ he said.
He added that the refining of ETEYA, which has also seen the introduction of new entry criteria, will ensure that emerging black entrepreneurs are market-ready.
The new entry criteria have broadened access to the competition. Tourism businesses that have been in operation for up to 10 years and have a maximum turnover of R10-million can now enter. Those entering ETEYA must clearly articulate their plans for growth, sustainability, innovation, job creation and meeting consumer demand.
The ETEYA winner and runners-up will be announced at the National Tourism Awards in September 2013.
The 2012/13 ETEYA entry form is available on the ETEYA website.
