South African Tourism CMO to retire

Roshene Singh, South African Tourism Chief Marketing Officer, is leaving the organisation after a very successful tenure of almost 10 years.

Roshene Singh, South African Tourism (SAT) Chief Marketing Officer, is retiring and will leave SAT at the end of 2012.

Thulani Nzima, SAT CEO, said Singh wants to take some time off to pursue personal interests.

‘I would like to thank her for her many years of loyal, dedicated service to SAT. During this time she has played an integral role in driving our tourism growth strategy and achieving fantastic results in tandem with our country and head office marketing teams,’ he said.

Earlier this year Singh was named an 'Internationalist' by the New York-based publication, The Internationalist, for her leadership in global destination marketing work and ‘outstanding thinking in brand communications’.

‘We will work with Singh on planning her exit strategy from the organisation as well as on a business continuity plan for her to hand over to her successor. We wish her the very best for the future,’ concluded Nzima.

Mmatšatši Ramawela, CEO of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa, said Singh’s departure from SA Tourism was a major loss to the travel and tourism industry.

‘She has  played a critical role in profiling South Africa as a destination of choice both locally and internationally. We are sad to hear the news of her departure and wish her much success in her future endeavours,’ said Ramawela.
