Tings an' Times in Pretoria offers a live South African music experience with a twist. This mid-sized venue is styled along Jamaican lines, with an excellent menu, and regularly features top class performances from South Africa's best bands and musicians.

Tings an' Times Pretoria is a live music venue with a difference.

Featuring Afro-Jamaican décor and portraits of reggae music icon Bob Marley, and an easy-going Rastafarian vibe, Tings an’ Times, describes itself as a '100% attitude-free zone'.

Tings an’ Times has a laidback student vibe, stemming from the time it was located in Hatfield near the university (it has since moved twice and is now in Pretoria East at Waterglen).

As a premiere live music venue in Pretoria, it hosts has some of the best parties in town. Expect live music performances three nights a week, on weekday nights, while weekends usually see DJs performing during themed parties.

Musically speaking, their focus is on new and original acts, usually with an alternative slant, although you can also expect to see a few local heavyweights from the pop, rock and reggae genres too. Being Jamaican-themed, DJs tend to focus on playing reggae and dub, though the venue's eclecticism allows for much, much more.

Don't let the Jamaican theme and laidback atmosphere fool you into thinking that it is some kind of down-at-heel student venue. The food really is superb, a bit out of the ordinary and cheap.

A well-stocked bar and excellent sound system means that the vibes are good and quality high.

Tings an’ Times has a no-under-21's policy and there is plenty of safe parking outside the venue. The controlled door policy also means that while a good party is always on, it's never out of control.

Moreover, the bartenders and staff are amongst the friendliest (and funkiest) you will meet.
