The Komati Gorge Lodge Fly-Fishing & Wildlife Reserve is the perfect place to relax, sit back and enjoy the views, or to get really active. Try your hand at fly-fishing, quad biking, horse riding, hiking, canoeing, rafting. Or just sip a sundowner on the lodge terrace or your private deck.

Did you know?

The Komati River supplies water to South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique.

Discover the Komati Gorge Lodge Fly-Fishing & Wildlife Reserve tucked away in the Mpumalanga heartland between the small towns of Carolina and Machadodorp.

Only a couple of hours drive from Johannesburg, the Komati Gorge Lodge offers visitors an abundance of things to do.

Fly-fishing should be high on the list because the lodge prides itself on its superb fishing facilities. Test your fly-fishing skills along the 12km of unpolluted Komati River where yellowfish present a tough challenge. But it's strictly catch-and-release here and barbless hooks are compulsory for all fishing.

If it's a fat trout you're after, then it's off to one of three fabulous trout dams kept crystal clear by mountain streams. Hire your tackle, pick up your free fishing permit and fish till your heart's content.

Not a fisherman? Then try quad biking. Beginner or expert, all are welcome on guided quad bike tours through beautiful scenery. Cowboys and speedsters are not welcome and the quad bike trails are far from the lodge so there's no noise pollution to spoil the tranquillity.

Fancy a hike? Follow one of two marked trails – the 6km Aloe Trail or the 2.9km Ibis Trail – or choose instead to walk or jog anywhere on the game reserve. Mountain biking (bring your own bike or hire one) is also allowed all over the reserve.

You can also tackle a challenging 4x4 trail, try your hand at archery, take a game drive, go canoeing, or pick up a picnic, find your own special spot and relax the day away.
