Annona Day Spa provides a down-to-earth spa experience. It is situated in a lush residential area that borders the Vaal, Sugarbush and Klip rivers in Vereeniging, south of Johannesburg.
This self-standing spa, in a beautifully landscaped property, has 12 treatment rooms built in a horseshoe shape – all of which face out onto a pretty garden courtyard that is both tranquil and intimate.
The sounds of birds and flowing water provide a background soundtrack as the therapist gets down to the task of untying those knots in your back with a deep aromatherapy massage and releasing tension with a glorious head and foot massage. For an African twist to your treatment, you can request a massage with a traditional calabash or rainstick.
Annona Day Spa, which is decorated in rich, earthy tones, offers a unique mix of relaxing value-for-money spa treatments. These include massage, exfoliation and reflexology, as well as beauty treatments like waxing, tinting and slimming.
Hydrating facials are a highlight and, for added convenience, there’s even a hairdresser on the premises.
There are several packages to choose from, including the popular '10 o' Clock Delight', which includes a hand massage with manicure, an aroma foot massage with pedicure, a hydrating facial, and a hot stone or aromatherapy massage. This package includes a healthy snack and lunch in the garden courtyard, as well as complimentary spa slippers and a departure gift.
Annona Day Spa also offers overnight packages that include accommodation at the luxurious Lord’s Signature Hotel, which is situated on the property. An added bonus for many overseas visitors is the chance to get up close with the wildlife roaming the hotel’s spacious grounds.

How to get here
Take the Ring Road off-ramp along the R59 from Johannesburg. Follow the signs to Duncanville. There are detailed instructions on the Annona Day Spa website.

There are numerous activities and attractions along the Vaal Meander tourism route. Water sports are a highlight in this region, including waterskiing, jet-skiing and boating. There are a number of places to enjoy a picnic in the surrounding areas.

Having your own car is a good idea as public transport is not easily available in this part of the world.
What will it cost
Individual treatments vary, depending on what you are having done. Manicures start from R80, massages are in the region of R340 (full hour), while a reflexology session will cost R150 per session. Facials start at R180.
Length of stay
Book a half-day or full-day package. There are various special packages available on the website.
Where to stay
Luxury rooms are available for R1 320 per couple sharing, including breakfast. (Rates are subject to change.) Deluxe rooms are priced at R1 500 per couple and Superior Rooms at R1 900 (all with breakfast included). Booking is essential.

Light meals are available on request, and meals are often included in the half- and full-day packages. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let the management know beforehand.
