Report illegal use of stars

The TGCSA is the only officially recognised quality assurance body for tourism products in South Africa. We are the custodians of the star grading system, a credible, globally benchmarked system of quality assurance for accommodation and MESE (Meetings, Exhibitions and Special Events) venues which visitors can rely on when making their choice of establishment.

We have the responsibility of ensuring that visitor expectations are met by establishments marketing themselves as star graded. Unfortunately this is not always the case, there are numerous unscrupulous establishments that purport to be star graded while that not being the case. We have ALL come in to contact with these illegal operators at one point or another. With the help of the travelling public and the newly implemented Consumer Protection Act, the TGCSA plans to curb this illegal act in its tracks.

We request YOU to provide us with details of establishments you know of that are illegally using the TGCSA insignia, whether it be our stars or grading plaque to market themselves as star graded. You can choose to disclose your identity or remain anonymous.
