Mrs Ples is the nickname of a hominid fossil discovered at the Sterkfontein Caves in the Cradle of Humankind in 1947. It is estimated to be about two million years old.
South Africa’s pre- and post-tour options offer enriching, life changing and diverse experiences. When it comes to mixing business and meetings with unforgettable experiences, South Africa certainly has an edge.
We offer a powerful combination of experiences – eco-tourism combined with world-class infrastructure, traditional culture combined with urban vibes, unparalleled adventure married to affordable luxury.
From the deserts of the Kgalagadi to the lush green forests of the Tsitsikamma; from the unspoilt beaches of the Wild Coast to the vibrant nightlife of Johannesburg, the variety of experiences is endless.
One day you might be exploring the origins of ancient humans in the Cradle of Humankind; the next you’ll be abseiling the world’s largest green canyon; and after that enjoying traditional African cuisine and lively township jazz in a township shebeen.
Outdoor adventures are always extremely popular. If you’re into hard core adventures such as abseiling, paragliding, microlighting, kloofing and diving with ocean predators – it’s all up for grabs on a South African pre- or post-tour.
There are also softer options such as horse riding on the beach, hot air ballooning over the mountains or taking long walks in forests. Fishing, angling, surfing, canoeing and many other water sports are available along thousands of kilometres of beautiful coastline. Why not go scuba diving in Sodwana, deep-sea fishing in St Lucia, surfing in Jeffrey’s Bay or whale spotting in Hermanus? For those who love bird-watching, there are also many excellent options available.
Our country also offers inspiring wild spaces that include our 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and 19 national parks.
Our 9 provinces each have distinctive attractions and cultural experiences to offer.
Enjoy the Cape winelands and fantastic beaches of the Western Cape; the stark lunar-like landscapes of the Northern Cape; or the malaria-free reserves of the Eastern Cape. Experience Zulu culture first-hand in KwaZulu-Natal or go hunting for fossils in the laid-back Free State. For those who love a good party, hit the streets of Johannesburg, Sandton or Soweto in Gauteng province and then trace your roots all the way back to the Cradle of Humankind.
Visit the wild regions of Limpopo where the baobab reigns supreme (and discover legends of Rain Queens and sacred valleys) or pop over to the North West and discover big African skies, an ancient volcano and a prosperous ‘Lost City’. Admire the globe’s biggest green canyon in Mpumalanga before heading off to the famous Kruger National Park. Such is the breathtaking variety of South Africa's pre- and post-tour options.
For those seeking environmentally friendly pre- and post-tours, there are a host of eco-friendly adventures and green accommodation options available.
Our experienced destination management companies will tailor-make the perfect pre- and post-tour for your group, whether its a half-day city tour or a 3- to 5-day tour adventure. No matter where in South Africa you host your meeting or event, an unforgettable adventure awaits you.
