The annual Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Awards are hosted in South Africa in conjunction with Les Nouvelles Esthetiques in Paris. The awards are in their fifth year and the aim is to identify and acknowledge spa hospitality excellence (in various categories).
Day spas are found all over the country. This growing trend has embraced the fact that clients want easy access to a wide range of treatments in a tranquil environment away from the hustle and bustle of real life. The keyword here is accessibility and convenience: the day spa offers an oasis where one can enjoy being pampered for a few hours - it's the quick fix spa option for those who have limited time, and it's certainly a very popular concept with locals and international visitors alike.
Day Spas in South Africa range widely, from exclusive spas found at our renowned city hotels to the suburban day spa that offers value-for-money treatments and a convivial atmosphere. There are also day spas out in the country that work on specialised day-packages so clients can realy 'make a day' of it.
We certainly have a number of notable day spas on offer. The Carchele Spa at The Plettenberg (hotel) is coastal spa that offers the perfect wellness mini-getaway for holidaymakers to the Garden Route (look out for their Ladies Indulgence Package - a real treat). In Cape Town you are spoilt for choice with the Librisa Spa at the Mount Nelson Hotel, the ONEwellness at the Radisson and the One&Only Spa on its very own spa island. In Gauteng there are lots of excellent day spas including the notable Kievits Kroon Spa near Pretoria and Villa D'Este in the heart of Johannesburg's leafy suburbia.
There's no doubt that South Africa's day spas really do have something for everyone.
