Mpumalanga, known by the locals as ‘the place where the sun rises’, really does have it all – from wildlife and nightlife to adventure and outdoor activities, to scenic attractions and world-famous safari lodges.

In Mpumalanga province you’ll find the world’s largest green canyon, the Blyde (Motlatse) River Canyon as well as a number of natural attractions including God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Long Tom Pass and the Three Rondavels.

For a spot of history, why not visit the fun gold rush town of Pilgrim’s Rest, known as a ‘living museum’. The province is renowned for its colourful Ndebele and Shangaan cultures and a visit to a Shangaan Cultural village will give some insight into traditional life in this part of the world.

Nelspruit/Mbombela is a great starting point for your journey. This growing city has a host of accommodation options, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. Just outside of Nelspruit is the scenic town of White River and in the vicinity you’ll find the beautiful dorps (small towns) of Hazyview and Sabie.
