Being selected a Magellan Award Winner is a tremendous achievement and proves that South African Tourism represents a high standard of excellence within the travel industry.
The Magellan Awards recently honoured South African Tourism for innovation and creativity in the Destinations Advertising & Marketing Campaign category. The campaign that caught the eye of the judges was the innovative 'Food, Wine & South African Tales' campaign.
'It is a great honour to be selected by Travel Weekly's prestigious Magellan Awards as we were amongst the best in the world and the competition was pretty stiff,' commented Sthu Zungu, President of South African Tourism in North America.

The 'Food, Wine & South African Tales' campaign was created as a novel way to showcase the incredibly diverse local food and wine culture to the North American market.
Through stories related by some of the world's favourite chefs, the campaign highlighted our homegrown culinary offerings with anecdotes from the chefs, recipes, images and video. The campaign also offered special travel packages to South Africa.
The Magellan Awards honour a broad range of tourism industry segments including Hotels and Resorts, Travel Destinations, Travel Agents and Agencies, and Online Travel Services, highlighting the best in travel along with the professionals who make it all happen.
