Wedding venues in the Cape Winelands are plentiful and diverse. Wine-estate weddings offer picture-postcard scenery, and world-class food, wine, accommodation and service in romantic and historic settings – all within easy reach of the popular city of Cape Town.

Did you know?

The Cape Winelands is the largest wine-making area in the country and is world-renowned for the fine wines it produces.

Weddings on wine estates are among the most beautiful and romantic; and getting married in the Cape Winelands offers the opportunity to holiday in the gorgeous Western Cape while celebrating your nuptials.

Various Cape Winelands estates in Constantia (close to the city of Cape Town), Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl cater for weddings.

There are also wine estates situated further from Cape Town along Route 62 in the Klein Karoo, including in Wellington, Langkloof, Barrydale, Montagu and the Breede River Valley, as well as estates in the Western Cape towns Hermanus, Worcester, Tulbagh, McGregor and Somerset West.

A wedding on a wine estate provides a number of options when it comes to planning your wedding day. Many venues have a small chapel in their grounds for the ceremony, or offer scenic spots among vines, in manicured gardens or in historic buildings; and there is the option of a breakfast, lunch or dinner function, or even an early evening cocktail party.

Holding the wedding reception in a wine cellar is popular during the colder winter months; however, an outdoor wedding surrounded by the beautiful Cape mountains is always an attractive option, especially so in summer.

Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are renowned for their cuisine, so designing a menu with the chef’s input is a pleasure. Of course, arranging the choice of wine is also an exciting prospect, given that many wedding venues in the Cape Winelands are on working wine farms.

Some couples even organise a small wine-tasting as part of their wedding celebration.

Many venues provide an all-inclusive service, arranging everything for the wedding, from the flowers to the photographer. If you don't choose to go this route, however, you’ll be spoilt for choice by the range of experienced service providers in the Western Cape.

If you want to make a weekend of your winelands wedding, accommodation is no problem as relatives and friends can either stay overnight at the wine estate, or at a nearby bed and breakfast or guest house.
