Did you know?
The marula tree, which is common in the Thornybush Game Reserve, is said to have healing properties.
The Amani Spa at Thornybush Game Lodge in the Thornybush Game Reserve is an intimate spa experience that fully embraces its natural surroundings.
There's nothing quite like enjoying a massage on a wooden deck with the sounds of nature in the background. Or how about unwinding in a heated rock pool with a big African sky as your ceiling?
The Thornybush experience is all about making the most of the enchanting environment and the Amani Spa offers visitors a wonderful blend of nature and holistic and healing spa treatments.
The Amani Spa concept is well-known at a number of top-notch safari lodges and exclusive hotels in South Africa. This group of African spas is known for an excellent spa menu and superbly trained personnel to help visitors make the most of every experience.
Holistic signature body rituals include the ‘Amani Spirit' - a bush bath, magnetic hydrotherapy and a copper body alignment therapy where marula oil is massage all over the body using a specialised copper plate to stimulate circulation and energy flow.
There are also a number of massage rituals inspired by the African continent including the Soul of Africa Body Massage, the deep-tissue Punguza Massage and the African Scalp Massage. There's even a massage option for couples (a favourite with honeymooners). Numerous hand and foot rituals are also on offer.
You could also opt for the African Goddess anti-ageing skin ritual (for the ladies) or the holistic men's facial. There is also a purifying teen's facial on the menu using grapefruit extracts to assist the skin in cleansing. The Amani group makes use of the Africology brand of products - a home-grown make of spa products that is free from artificial preservatives, colouring and fragrances.
