BBarrydale Karoo Hotel is a funky, relaxed and welcoming country hotel situated in the Klein Karoo on the scenic Route 62 between Cape Town and the Garden Route and / or Oudtshoorn, in the farming village of Barrydale.  This charming hotel offers the most vital ingredient:  warm, old-fashioned Karoo hospitality. he 15 rooms are all completely individual in character, some with beautiful views overlooking the village.  There are 3 different room categories:  Klein Karoo Rooms, Groot Karoo Rooms and the spacious Garden Suite. Whichever room you choose you get that extra quality that counts: top quality mattresses, soft percale linen, piping hot showers. With the exception of the Garden Suite, all rooms are located on the first floor, some with views from balconies overlooking the village or garden.  We have secure parking for all our guests at the top of a beautifull terraced garden with water features. Around our crystal clear pool we have umbrellas and tables and chairs where our guests can lounge in the sun. The restaurant serves excellent typical South African cuisine and authentic Karoo dishes, all designed with a twist.  Together with our comprehensive top-notch wine list, you are promised an excellent Klein Karoo food & wine experience.  Guests love sharing a drink at our bar where we regularly arrange live music events.  The lounge with fireplace invites to a glass of Klein Karoo port during winter months. Barrydale Karoo Hotel is an ideal home-base from which the to explore the magnificent Klein Karoo!  Barrydale is within easy reach of the Warmwaterberg hot water springs, Barrydale Cellar (famous for its world class pot still brandies) and the well known lunch stop Ronnie’s Sex Shop. While Barrydale the ideal overnight stop on the way to Oudtshoorn and the famous Swartberg Pass, or the fertile charms of Wilderness and the Garden Route, Barrydale is most certainly a destination in its own right. It is home to international and local escapees and artists, eager to trade in urban neuroses for the intimacy and charm of village life. The village is surrounded by soaring mountain views and big blue skies.

If you’re looking for the complete coastal forest experience, Tsitsikamma, in the Eastern Cape has to be on the top of your list. Walk through the ancient forest, chill on the beaches, kayak up rivers and hike some of the most famous trails South Africa has to offer. The Tsitsikamma National Park forms part of the greater Garden Route National Park. The area is covered by large areas of forest as well as many rivers that have carved deep gorges into the mountains as they wind their way from the plateau to the sea. Accommodation in the area is not a problem at all, the fernery lodge and chalets is the perfect place to relax after an exciting day of adventuring.
