Unwind amidst ancient mountains

In Johannesburg or Pretoria with a few hours to spare? Then take yourself off to some of the oldest mountains in the world.

Dip into crystal-clear rock pools, amble along tumbling streams, or tuck into a picnic in a shady glen.

Mountain Sanctuary Park is a privately owned nature reserve tucked away in the Magaliesberg mountains just over an hour’s drive from Johannesburg.

A visitor is on record as saying “If you can’t relax here, you need medical attention.”

Hike, go mountain biking or just laze by the rock pools.

Booking is essential as only 180 visitors are allowed into the reserve each day to ensure exclusivity and to protect the environment.

Ask for a map of the nature trails and a bird and animal spotting map when you get there and then off you go.
