Antony Osler is a Buddhist monk, human rights advocate, father, farmer and author of a best-selling book titled ‘Stoep*Zen’. His simple philosophies have garnered quite a following in South Africa and around the world and now Antony and his wife Margie are offering StoepZen retreats at their Poplar Grove farm in Colesberg in the Karoo. The Poplar Grove StoepZen retreats follow a simple schedule that includes both group and individual practice (not aligned to any particular school of thought). Each retreat is conducted in silence in the gorgeous surroundings of the tranquil Karoo. Meditate at sunrise, take long walks in the area and enjoy the space to think, breathe, reflect and find your own version of Stoepzen. Antony has his version of the term, simply put: ‘the art of being at home wherever you are’
There are also art retreats on offer as well as group retreats and solo retreats (on request).
Stoep* means verandah or patio. You will find most farms in the Karoo have a stoep to speak of.
