Sound & Silence retreats in the great North West

Sound journeys have become a way of sharing with others our discovery of that silence which we believe to be the essence of creation.

It’s not difficult to get in touch with the silence in a place like Groot Marico with its vast rural landscapes, timeless vistas and locals who truly believe that tomorrow is just another day.

The good news is that there are various Sound & Silence retreats taking place in the Marico area during the year, so if you're planning a more peaceful year ahead, a trip to the North West may be just what the doctor ordered.

It’s not difficult to get in touch with the silence in a place like Groot Marico with its vast rural landscapes, timeless vistas and locals who truly believe that tomorrow is just another day.

The retreats are run by Marico locals including Egbert van Bart, Grant Smith and Teresa Smith. Egbert van Bart started the Groot Marico Information Centre over 25 years and lives his truth in interesting ways (many think he has simply escaped the pages of a Herman Charles Bosman novel). Van Bart says, “Sound journeys have become a way of sharing with others our discovery of that silence which we believe to be the essence of creation.’‘

Grant Smith is a qualified sound therapist (he studied in the UK with the British Association of Sound Therapy) and Teresa Smith is a shiatsu and yoga practitioner who assists with the workshops. There are drumming workshops, meditation sessions and all the space in the world to get quiet and get in touch.

The retreats take place at ‘The Well’ (part of the Riverstill guest farm) and fall over four weekends of your choice:  20-22 April; 22-24;  June; 27-29 July and 21-23 September.

For more information, contact the Groot Marico information centre on info@marico.co.za or call +27 (0)83 272 2958.
