Not quite an apple a day….

South Africa is a very spiritual, soulful destination and traditional beliefs spill over into almost every facet of life. When it comes to health and healing, it is estimated that 80% of the population have at some time or other gone to a traditional healer for help in both spiritual and health matters. Traditional healers include nyangas (herbalists) and sangomas (diviners) and there are over 200 000 of these practitioners spread far and wide across South Africa. Traditional healing places emphasis on medicinal plants (which has piqued the interest of Western practitioners in a big way) and communicating with the ancestors for guidance also plays a role in getting to the heart of ailments or problems.
