My favourite Jo’burg eateries

Johannesburg is known for its great selection of restaurants. Here are a few of my favourites.

Johannesburg – the City of Gold, where the streets are filled with bloggers, fashionistas, trendsetters and not-so-ordinary residents. It is famous not only for its arts and culture, but also for the variety of bars and restaurants on offer: from vegetarian to Asian to grill houses, this city has it all.

I pride myself on searching out and exploring different restaurants. There are, of course, far too many to mention, but I would like to share a few of my personal favourites.

Life Grand Cafe

Life is a beautiful restaurant at Hyde Park Corner, perfect for breakfast and lunches. It has a great menu selection, and if you’re feeling a bit ambitious, you can make your own salad. Its high tea is popular, while there's also a gift store should you wish to splurge a little.

Licorish Bistro

Trendy, elegant décor and great ambience define this restaurant. Add to that great service, mouth-watering cuisine and an awesome cocktail menu. Be sure to try the Gucci Martini – I absolutely loved it.
