'Hops and Hippos' safaris

The ‘Hops and Hippos’ 13-day safari is a blissful combination of beer tasting (and brewing workshops) and safari in Big Five territory.

United States-based Africa Adventure Consultants recently launched a 13-day South African brew tour for those who like a little hops served with their wildlife.

In a fun PRWeb blog, Denver’s Darla Worden explains: 'Part South African pub-crawl, part home-brewer’s hands-on workshop, part African wildlife safari, the new "South Africa Hops and Hippos" 13-day brewery tour and Africa safari from Africa Adventure Consultants combines the best of all worlds for adventurous beer lovers and home brewers alike.'

Worden admits that the trip is a PR marketing dream – what hops-loving traveller would pass up the possibility of beer-tastings, brewing workshops and game drives (not necessarily in that order)?

The tour includes a trip to Cape Town to trace the roots of beer-making in the Mother City, where guests will get to visit a home where traditional beer is still made.

The Durban route includes a visit to a number of breweries in KwaZulu-Natal. There are also tours of commercial breweries and, of course, a visit to Johannesburg’s famous SAB World of Beer – which gives impressive insights into the country’s rich beer-brewing history.

Apart from brewery visits, there are also trips to townships, pubs and bars. Itineraries can also be tailor-made to fit in with South Africa’s various beer festivals (including the Cape Town Festival of Beer and the Clarens Craft Beer Festival). It's all about fun, food, journeys along the road and a good dose of beer-inspired bonhomie.

Travellers get to stay in luxury accommodation during their trip, including three days at Thanda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, where they will go on game drives in Big Five territory and get to experience Zulu culture.

The package will surely prove to be a slice of heaven for those interested ... and beer-lovers around the world will say 'Cheers!' to that.
