Great Expectations

South Africa offers numerous options for pregnant women in need of some serious pampering. Most high-end spas will offer some sort of treatment to help ease discomfort and add to one’s sense of well-being.

There’s the Yummy Tummy treatment at Fourdoun Spa in the Kwa-Zulu Natal midlands (the resident sangoma is also on tap to give you some spiritual insight); the pre-natal massage at Vygenhoek Organic Spa outside Dullstroom is legeandary, as is their warm honey facial.

If you’re visiting Jozi then Camelot Spa at Triba (in the suburb of Craighall) is the perfect place for expectant mothers to hang out. In Cape Town, the Sanctuary Spa at the Twelve Apostles Hotel along the Atlantic seaboard is the place to be. Their Babymooner package is all about the ultimate spoil for soon-to-be-mothers. In the North West province, the Sparkling Waters Hotel and Spa offers a relaxing pedicure and foot massage (the treatment is called Lighten Up).

Whether you’re in the city or the country, there’s a spa with something special to offer those moms-to-be who need some serious time-out before the big event.
