Get your Standard Bank Pro20 series tickets

If you’re a cricket fan, you’re no doubt counting down the days to the ICC Cricket World Cup, which starts on February 19. For those of you who will be in South Africa instead of India during the tournament, the Standard Bank Pro20 series is very generous compensation.

The 20-overs-a-side tournament has produced some high scores of late and features a number of international stars who are unlucky not to be playing in the World Cup.

The Cape Cobras (based in Cape Town) boast 2 world-class performers in local boy, Herschelle Gibbs, as well as English batsman, Owais Shah. Gibbs, 36, has fallen out of favour with the South African national team, largely due to some frank remarks in his recent biography, To the Point. He is, however, still one of the most stylish and destructive batsmen on the planet, an entertainer in every possible way.

Mark Boucher, one of the most accomplished wicketkeepers/batsmen of the modern game, has been in good form for the Chevrolet Warriors (based in Port Elizabeth and East London), who are looking to defend their title. Other players in the squad with international experience include Makhaya Ntini, Nicky Boje, Rusty Theron and Ashwell Prince.

Other teams taking part in the Standard Bank Pro20 series are the Nashua Dolphins (Durban), Nashua Titans (Pretoria), Highveld Lions (Johannesburg and Potchefstroom) and Chevrolet Knights (Bloemfontein and Kimberley).

The tournament features several matches each week until its conclusion on March 18. For a full list of fixtures and updated results, visit the ESPNcricinfo website. These matches regularly sell out, so don’t delay in booking your seat.
