Fit and fabulous at Fancourt

Fancourt has just opened its new Sports and Leisure Centre, which offers a range of lifestyle and entertainment activities (and a great space for mum and dad to have some time out from the kids).

The Garden Route’s ultra-luxurious golf and lifestyle destination, Fancourt, continues to add to its menu of leisure and fitness pursuits – just opened for business is a new, rather swanky Sports and Leisure Centre. The centre includes a high-tech gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, poolside café, a cinema, a chill-out zone and a kiddies’ club.

The Kidz Club is managed by qualified staff, and features both indoor and outdoor play areas, so mum and dad can work out, do yoga, or hang out at the spa while the kids are kept entertained.

The Chillout Zone is intended for all ages, perhaps with a particular accent on teenagers. It offers a pool table, PlayStations, table tennis, bean bags to lounge on and wireless internet to update one’s social status (on a regular basis!). The cinema shows the latest movie releases, as well as screened sports events, while the state-of-the-art gym includes an aerobics studio, locker rooms, sauna and lounge area.

Also new is a 10km mountain bike trail that winds a path from the Fancourt Clubhouse, across parts of the greens and along a bush trail. The course takes around 35 minutes to complete, depending on personal fitness levels. Twenty mountain bikes are available for hire at the Sports and Leisure Centre, which takes the schlep out of bringing your own.

Says sales and marketing director of Fancourt Carl Reinders: ‘Vitality, relaxation and wellness are integral to the Fancourt guest experience, and the new mountain bike trail will provide a fun and sporty way for guests to get their hearts racing while working off some calories.'

The new additions are in line with Fancourt’s endeavours to present itself as far more than a premier golf resort. With activities such as horse riding, leisure trails, picnics, tennis and volleyball, Fancourt is positioning itself as a multi-generational destination with an emphasis on outdoor-based physical exercise.

The Fancourt complex includes 2 luxury hotels, 3 restaurants, a spa and 3 award-winning Gary Player-designed golf courses. It was recently named as one of the world’s 10 best golf resorts by the online travel hub of CNN, CNNGo.
