Bloukrans Bridge bungee – no saving face

At 216m high, Bloukrans is the highest commercial bridge bungee jump in the world. The facial expressions and body positions captured by the Face Adrenalin crew on video and camera say it all ...

The only way is down ...

The travellers come from near and far – not to see the incredible scenic beauty of the Garden Route, or to surf the waves in Plett, or to hang with the hippies in Knysna; they come for the adrenalin rush of the Bloukrans Bridge bungee jump.

The Bloukrans Bridge is situated on the border of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape in an area known as the Tsitsikamma, and a Bloukrans bungee is a definite on the bucket list of any adventure-seeker visiting South Africa.

Face Adrenalin is the company that operates the Bloukrans bungee, and it's a slick operation that runs 365 days a year. Whether old or young, famous or not, taking the plunge is a great leveller in the beauty stakes! See the video below, put together with footage provided by Face Adrenalin using GoPro cameras – the facial expressions are priceless, and gravity definitely shows no mercy.

A bungee jump at Bloukrans costs R790 per person. You need to book beforehand and be at the bridge an hour before your 'flight'. If you're visiting the area during peak season (the Christmas and Easter holidays in South Africa), you should book at least two to three weeks in advance.

Some participants are able to look glam halfway down!

The Bloukrans Bridge is situated in a gorgeous forested area. If you want to witness the incredible views but don't have the heart to leap from the bridge, take a bridge walking tour (costs R100 per person). Make sure to bring your camera along.
